Q & A: 

1. What is your greatest life achievement? 

Returning from a year in New Zealand and going back to college to complete my diploma in mechanical engineering. I was never great at school, possibly considered ‘troublesome’ (I disagree - obviously) so wasn’t sure how I would do, but 4 years later I came away with a distinction in my advanced diploma.

2. What is your greatest fitness achievement?

It may not be common knowledge, but I was diagnosed with scoliosis aged 17, which concluded in me having two 14inch rods put down my spine. I was told this would affect my ability - and yes it does, but to press past that, lift weights I doubted I ever would, and push my body so hard just goes to show that boundaries can always be beaten. I’m now physically in the best shape of my life and I’m both proud and amazed I’ve been able to do it! 

3. Why do you work for FITISM?

Because I want to help continue giving that ‘buzz’ to people that I feel whenever I’m there. 

4. What are your fitness goals right now?

To trim my body fat down to below 10% and improve my cardio/stamina..... Anyone who knows me will realise I tend to bolt like a horse and then crash and burn shortly afterwards 

5. What part of your body do you hate the most?

Tough choice between my back and my feet. My back restricts my flexibility, but having size 13 feet makes shoe shopping a nightmare 
 
6. What part of your body do love the most? 

Probably my arms and shoulders. Luckily for me they trim well and hold minimal fat! 

7. What did you eat for breakfast this morning?

Simply some seeded bread toasted with butter. It was 5am though.

8. What’s your idea of the ultimate cheat meal? 

If I’m dining out then it has to be a Five Guys burger and fries with a coffee or chocolate and Oreo milkshake 

9. What have you done or achieved that we might not know about?

I used to ride and race motocross, but that was many moons ago..... I also got selected to played hockey for Derbyshire when I was at school. 

10. What’s your most embarrassing moment?

When Mr Crawford killed me in 4 minutes on my first ever visit to FITISM..... Not a fond memory.

11. Why and how did you get into health and fitness?

I’ve always been reasonably fit and healthy, but after giving up riding and racing bikes in my 20’s I acquired a ‘bit of a tum’. It was at this point Ali killed me in 4 minutes and I realised I wasn’t anywhere near as fit as I though and needed to do something about it!

12. What is your favourite exercise?

This is tough - there are so many! To be honest, I love nothing more than a good sweaty conditioning workout that uses all the basics such as box jumps, rowing, squats.... just anything that gets the blood pumping and the sweat flowing! 

13. Who is your fitness role model?

Mr PMA - Faisal Abdalla. Since experiencing one of his classes in London I’ve been in awe. His energy, his style, his determination - he’s an incredible and inspirational trainer.
