The great thing was that I felt and saw results quickly, I felt energised, satisfied, had great skin and best of all I slept really well – something I usually struggle with.
Why did you decide to join the KICK17 course?
I am a massive sugar(sweets, chocolate etc) addict and I have tried to beat this several times but it usually end up where it started. I liked the idea of doing this in a group and in different stages.
What did you achieve during KICK17 (body, skin, mind etc)?
My first 2 weeks were amazing and not as hard as I had imagined – I am not saying it was easy as you realise how many bad habits you actually have. Not to mention the temptations we are surrounded by they are everywhere and its more obvious when you are doing something like this. I already eat fairly well and I have a good training routine - for me it was about cutting out the sweets, chocolate, wine and that famous coffee. Being from Sweden I usually say I have coffee in my blood – fika as we call it is part of our culture and despite living in the UK for 13 years it’s a part of my daily life. I thought I would struggle more with the alcohol than I did but to be honest the only thing I missed was the social side.

How was the overall KICK17 experience for you (nutrition, juicing, exercise)?
Most of all I loved the feeling of living what I call a guiltfree life. It was an overall feeling of achievement and I felt like I could actually sustain many parts of this lifestyle at least 5-6 days a week. After some planning(and many trips to the supermarket) I found ways of supplementing my bad treats with allowed ones. I felt great about my training in combination with getting some visible results.
Juicing everything changed for me. I didn’t work for me mentally as I became food obsessed during these 3 days. I didn’t break my juice fast but I spent far too many hours thinking of food.
I guess it wasn’t a great surprise to loose some of the quality in my training during this time and Matt Shippen was a great help to overcome some of that. We worked more on technique during and after juicing as I just didn’t have any drive inside of me. Once I started eating I struggled to find good food routine again and that ‘feel good feeling’ I had previous to the juicing. To be honest it that never really came back - I was so hungry that I think I started overeating. Despite this I loved doing KICK and I would definitively do it again but adjust the things that didn’t work for me.
How did you find the community support at FITISM during KICK17 (staff expertise and fellow KICKers)?
KICK is an individual challenge and we all have different abilities and obstacles to overcome and its been truly amazing and so inspiring to see others journeys and results. I have learnt loads from staff and fellow KICKers and the support when I have been wanting to get my hands on a chocolate bar has been immense. Special thanks to Dawn Dyer who has been my counsellor through all this. I don’t want to think how many messages we have sent during these 4 weeks! The KICK whatsapp group has been very helpful too – mental support as well as tips and tricks on what to eat etc.
How did the KICK17 course compare to other courses, diets, plans etc you have tried before?
It definitively had more insight than what I have been exposed to before and it inspired me to read a bit more about the different phases. Doing something in a group does for me all make all the difference.
Do you have anything else you would like to say about KICK17?
Looking forward to next one!
