I loved the KICK experience…
Why did you decide to join the KICK17 course?
Following a fizz-filled summer I needed some kind of “external force” to encourage me to focus on better nutrition and get my training routine back! The competition element, and recording workouts, PT sessions was a real motivation for me. I wanted to get back to a healthy-eating regime and this helped me to do that.
What did you achieve during KICK17?
During kick, I gradually started to feel well again. Focussing on putting really good nutrients into my body and cutting out sugar, caffeine, alcohol and wheat made me feel energised and alert. Training wise, I pushed myself to train harder than I had been for a while which felt good!
How was the overall KICK17 experience for you?
I loved the Kick experience…the first week was tough, with the caffeine withdrawal (I was a 6-7 cups a day addict!) and operated in a bit of a fog, but as that cleared, I felt great, energised, waking up fully refreshed! Nutrition wise I found it pretty easy, even though there is a few things to eliminate, there is still a lot of great stuff to eat, so I ate more simply, fresh veg, salad, fish, chicken, the odd bowl of FITISM muesli. Juicing I was really apprehensive about as I’ve done a 7 day juice cleanse before and it was really awful, so I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it, but knew if I’d said I would, I’d make sure I completed it! But actually, it really wasn’t too bad. I think having the previous 2 weeks to get rid of the caffeine and preparing for it really helped. The juices from The Garden were delicious. I didn’t feel weak or light headed as I’d thought I would. I was very hungry, and it wasn’t too enjoyable, but then I’d see Frankie at the gym and she’d say “you just have to do it, Saturday you can eat, it’s mind over matter”! Juicing was the hardest part of Kick, but I did feel better afterwards. The last 2 weeks were easy! I would like more info on the fermented foods part of the programme, that was new to me and a bit of a mystery.
How did you find the community support at FITISM during KICK17?
Community support of Kick is a key part to the success of the transformation. Staff were supportive, sympathetic, motivational, either through face to face in the gym, or via the whatsapp group. Fellow kickers were brilliant, really motivational, again the whatsapp group was great for this. We all felt a team spirit!
How did the KICK17 course compare to other courses, diets, plans etc you have tried before?
KICK just seems simpler. It’s about gut health which leads to all round health and the inch loss is an added bonus! It’s not complicated, I really felt like it was about health rather than a commercial opportunity for FITISM!
What would you say to anyone wanting to do the next KICK course?
I’d say DO IT!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain! It is about mindset though, and you have to just set yourself a 28 day target and go for it.
Do you have anything else you would like to say about KICK17?
Just a massive thank you to the FITISM team, the support was fabulous!!
